COVID-19 Response: Kano Gets 2 More Testing Centres, 390 Daily Capacity - As Gov Ganduje assures strengthened partnership with development partners.
By way of strengthening fight against COVID-19 pandemic in Kano state, the state gets 2 more Testing Centres, that were commissioned by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, at Independence Road, Bompai, Kano, Thursday.
EHA Clinics of E-Health Africa, provides its Testing Centre facility Sample Collection Centre, with 300 capacity. While International Foundation Against Infectious Diseases in Africa provides its Testing Centre facility with the capacity of 90 samples per day.
In order to strengthen institutional fight against the pandemic, governor Ganduje said, "Partnership with many more development partners and other stakeholders becomes extremely necessary in order to wipe out this pandemic."
Adding that, as the pandemic is getting to some communities, that was why the state decided to also change strategy, "We pursue the pandemic wherever it goes and we are doing our best to prevent it from penetrating other places."
"We thank our Almighty Creator that with these two Testing Centres I am about to commission, we now have 5 Testing Centres in the state. With this development, it also means that we must continue to have more and more sample collection centres across the state," he reveals.
He said, he would make sure that the Centres get atleast 300 samples daily from the sample centres in the state. After hoping that the state would continue to have low number of positive cases, he believes that, "Our strategy of employing random sampling makes the collection to be more effective and efficient."
Governor Ganduje urged that the state would continue to be partnering with the organisations in other health matters, not only COVID-19 issue.
In their separate remarks representatives of the organisations that contributed the Testing Centres assured their continued commitment in partnering with the state in the fight against the pandemic.
Deputy Director Operations of E-Health Africa, Mr Atif Fawaz, commended governor Ganduje for his unrelenting commitment in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, appreciating that, "We believe you are doing your best in this response. That is why we decided to bring forth our contribution Your Excellency."
Mr Barnand Ebruka of International Foundation Against Infectious Diseases in Africa, made it very clear that, as the state government is responding to the pandemic appropriately, "Our organisation has no other option than to support the good move and get more impressing result."
They all assured the state government for their genuine support in the state response to the pandemic. After lending their voices to the state effort, they all believe that, governor Ganduje gives deserving attention from the scratch, even before identifying the first index case, to the response against the pandemic."
