Governors of the 36 states are to meet on Wednesday with representatives of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) to work on the challenges the states are facing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic on their economies.
The governors are also expected to plan ahead of their participation in the forthcoming summit of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG) on October 26 and 27, 2020.
In a statement in Abuja, Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) spokesman Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo said both issues are key items on the agenda of the forum’s 17th teleconference meeting to hold at 2 p.m today.
He said: “The two conversations are geared towards preparing the governors for their post-COVID-19 recovery plans and ensuring that maximum impact of the reforms is felt by the sub-national populace.”
The NGF spokesman said information about the meeting and its agenda are contained in the invitation sent to the governors by the forum’s Director-General, Mr. Asishana Bayo Okauru.
The statement reads: “The governors will rub minds with the Presidential Economic Advisory Council, represented by its Chairman, Bismark Rewane, to x-ray the management of state economies, their challenges, opportunities and policy solutions.
