The 36 governors of the country are expected to meet in Aso Rock, Abuja, on Wednesday night. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the prevalent insecurity in the country.
The Cable understands that the sit-down will take place around 8pm at the State House Conference Center.
It will be the first physical meeting of the governors since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in February 2020.
Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, head of media and public affairs, Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), said the security situation in the country is the only topic on the agenda.
Kayode Fayemi, chairman of the NGF, is expected to brief the media following the conclusion of the meeting.
The meeting is coming several hours after the abduction of 27 students from Government Science College (GSC) Kagara, Niger state.
The bandits stormed the school in the early hours of Wednesday, overpowering the security guards on duty.
Sani Bello, governor of Niger, has since ordered the closure of boarding schools in four local government areas (LGAs) in the state.
