The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, yesterday in Abuja launched a gender policy document against all forms of Gender-Based Violence in the country.

She said this was to give a proper operation to GBV issues and address gender gaps.

“I believe it will complement the agency’s operational strategies to curb gender-based violence and address gender gaps,” she said.

Director-General, NAPTIP, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, said the document would promote gender sensitive environment that would address forced migration, trafficking and other GBV crimes.

Imaan said the launch of the document was aimed at strengthening gender clauses and mainstreaming of gender into policies, legislations, programmes and operations of NAPTIP-gender-based victim support with proper documentation and disaggregation of data.
