The Canadian Ambassador Mr Nicolas Simard met with the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum. They discussed several issues of mutual interest including the ban on Twitter.
The Canadian Ambassador who has spent only six months in Nigeria advised that it would be better to go after hate speech and not the platform because it’s sending a bad message to the outside world.
In agreement, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Mr John Kayode Fayemi said that the country would fall better in the social media space if it had an editorial gatekeeper.
