Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has said that he is leaving office after a two-term tenure a fulfilled man.
He was speaking while receiving leaders of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) in the state, in his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, yesterday.
“As for me, my job is done, I am at peace with my creator, having led the state for eight years and turning its fortune around for good”, he said.
Amosun told the labour leaders, who paid him a thank-you-visit for fulfilling his promise to offset deduction arrears, that
“in all the three judgments of the people, posterity and God Almighty, we will not be found wanting.”
The governor noted that Ogun State, which so many development partners did not reckon with before he assumed office, has now gained an enviable status throughout the country.
According to him, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the state, could now sky rocket, because of the quantum of investment and assets that the state now has, and which his government will be leaving behind to successive governments.
He thanked the Organised Labour and civil servants for the support they have given to his administration, assuring that he would seek ways of also fulfilling his promise of offsetting outstanding leave bonus and gratuities.
Amosun disclosed that his government had fully paid for all the ongoing road projects in Ijebu-Ode, restating that President Muhammadu Buhari will this month commission some legacy projects.
Earlier in his remarks, the state Chairman of TUC, Comrade Bunmi Fajobi said, “we want to appreciate you for fulfilling your promise to civil servants in the state.
“I can say authoritatively that we have received the 17 months salary deductions and the gross salary of April. You meant well for Ogun State and you have done well. You have grown the state all round in all ramifications and we thank God for your courage and tenacity”, he stated.
Fajobi, added that the governor is leaving the state better than he met it, hoping that the incoming government will continue to build on the legacies of his government.
